What is it?

A corticosteroid preparatior available as a solution in 2 strength: delivering 50 and 100µg of beclomethasone diproprionate per metered dose for use with Aerochamber. Also, QVAR AUTOHALER, delivering 50 and 100µg of beclomethasone diproprionate per breath-actuated metered dose.

Medical Uses

Prevention of asthma.

Dosage

Adults, new patients, mild asthma, 100 to 200µg each day in; moderate asthma, 200 to 400µg each day; severe asthma, 400 to 800µg each day. All in 2 divided doses. Patients transferring from CFC-BDP products: if control has been good, start on about half the dose. If control poor, begin at same dose and then gradually decrease.

Special Care

Pregnancy, pulmonary tuberculosis, patients transferring from systemic steroids.

Avoid Use

Children.

Known Side Effects

Thrush affecting mouth and throat, hoarseness.
