Restandol

What is it?

An hormonal, androgen preparation available as oval-shaped, brown, gelatin capsules marked DV3 and ORG, containing 40mg of testosterone undecanoate.

Medical Uses

Underactivity of the testicles, osteoporosis due to deficiency in androgen.

Dosage

Males, 3 to 4 capsules each day at first for 2 to 3 weeks, then adjust to 1 to 3 capsules each day, according to response and individual need.

Special Care

Epilepsy, kidney, liver or heart disorders, high blood pressure, migraine.

Avoid Use

Heart failure that is not treated, high calcium levels in urine or blood, nephrosis (kidney disorder), ischaemic heart disease, cancer of the prostate gland or breast.

Possible Drug and Food Interactions

Drugs that induce liver enzymes.

Known Side Effects

Early closure of epiphyses (head of long bone that is separated from the shaft of the bone in childhood but becomes fused when growth is complete), retention of sodium and water, hoarseness, lowered fertility, fluid collection, priapism (abnormal condition in which there is prolonged and painful erection).
