Rilutek
What is it?
An antiglutamate that slows the loss of muscle strength, available as film-coated, white, capsule-shaped tablets marked RPR202 containing 50mg of riluzole.
Medical Uses
Motor neurone disease.
Dosage
Adults, 1 tablet twice each day.
Special Care
Specialist supervision essential, mild or moderate liver disease, kidney disease; feverish illnesses should be reported. Serum transaminases to be monitored and not to exceed five times normal value (stop if this occurs).
Avoid Use
Children, pregnancy, breastfeeding, severe liver disease.
Known Side Effects
Gastrointestinal upset, weakness, dizziness, rapid heartbeat, abdominal pain, headache, neutopenia, numbness or tingling around the mouth, tiredness, disturbed liver function tests.
