Sandocal 400

What is it?

A calcium supplement available as effervescent, white tablets containing 930mg of calcium lactate gluconate, 700mg of calcium carbonate and 1.189g of citric acid. Also, SANDOCAL 1000, available as effervescent, white tablets containing 2.327g of calcium lactate gluconate, 1.75g of calcium carbonate and 2.973g of citric acid.

Medical Uses

Supplement in calcium deficiency or when calcium needs are high, additional treatment in osteoporosis.

Dosage

Adults, supplement, 0.4 to 2g each day; osteoporosis, 1 to 2 g each day. Children, 0.4 to lg each day. All tablets to be added to water.

Special Care

In mild kidney failure or slightly elevated urinary levels of calcium, calcium levels in urine should be checked during treatment.

Avoid Use

Severe high blood or urinary calcium levels, kidney stones.

Possible Drug and Food Interactions

Tetracyclines, thiazide diuretics, fluoride supplements, high doses of vitamin D.

High blood calcium levels, gastrointestinal upset.
