Slow-Fe
What is it?
A haematinic preparation available as green-white, sustained- release, film-coated tablets containing 160mg of dried ferrous sulphate, marked CG 503.
Medical Uses
Iron-deficiency.
Dosage
Adults and children over 12 years, 1 to 2 tablets each day; children aged 6 to 12 years, 1 tablet each day.
Special Care
Diverticulae or strictures in the gastrointestinal tract.
Avoid Use
Children aged under 6 years, haemolytic anaemia, haemochromatosis, haemosiderosis.
Possible Drug and Food Interactions
Zinc salts, tetracyclines, antacids, penicillamine, levodopa.
Known Side Effects
Dark coloured stools, gastrointestinal upset.
