Soframycin

What is it?

An antibiotic amino- glycoside preparation available in the form of drops containing 0.5% framycetin sulphate. Also, SOFRA MYCIN OINTMENT containing 0.5% framycetin sulphate.

Medical Uses

Drops, eye infections, styes, blepharitis (inflammation and infection of hair follicles of eyelashes), conjunctivitis. Ointment, bacterial infections of skin.

Dosage

Eyes, apply 1 or 2 drops at 1 or 2 hourly intervals, as needed; apply ointment 2 or 3 times each day or at night if drops are being used. Skin, apply ointment to affected area up to 3 times each day.

Special Care

Use on more extensive, damaged areas of skin.

Known Side Effects

Sensitisation, ototoxicity (damage to organs of balance and hearing).
