Soltamox

What is it?

An antioestrogen available as an oral solution containing 10mg of tamoxifen as citrate per 5ml.

Medical Uses

Female infertlility due to lack of ovulation, breast cancer.

Dosage

Infertility: 20mg once each day on 4 consecutive days starting on the second day of period. It may be necessary to increase the dose to 40mg and then 80mg in subsequent cycles. Breast cancer: 20mg once each day

Avoid Use

Children, pregnancy.

Possible Drug and Food Interactions

Other inducers of CYP3A4, warfarin, bromocriptine, rifampicin.

Known Side Effects

Baldness, hot flushes, gastrointestinal upset, disturbed vision, vaginal bleeding. In rare cases, cancer of endometrium; patients should be advised to report abnormal bleeding or discharge.
