Spasmonal Forte

What is it?

An antispasmodic available as blue/grey capsules containing 120mg of alverine citrate, marked SP 120. Also, SPASMONAL, grey/blue capsules containing 60mg of alverine citrate. Also, SPASMONAL FIBRE, a bulking agent comprising beige-coloured, coated granules containing 0.5% alverine citrate and 62% sterculia.

Medical Uses

Forte and Spasmonal, diverticular disease, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), dysmenorrhoea (painful periods) (Spasmonal Forte and Spasmonal only). Spasmonal Fibre is Also, used for hypertonic disorders of colon (i. e. those involving increased muscle tone).

Dosage

Adults, diverticular disease and IBS, Spasmonal Forte, 1 capsule up to 3 times each day; Spasmonal, 1 to 2 capsules up to 3 times each day; Spasmonal Fibre, 1 to 2 heaped 5ml spoonfuls once or twice each day, swallowed with water after meal. Granules should be placed in mouth and swallowed immediately without chewing. Dysmennorrhoea, 1 or 2 capsules up to 3 times each day.

Special Care

Pregnancy. Spasmonal fibre should not be taken at bedtime and plenty of water should be drunk when using this product.

Avoid Use

Children, obstruction of intestine, impacted faeces, paralytic ileus.
