Stamaril
What is it?
A preparation of live attenuated vaccine of yellow fever virus, available as a powder in vials with diluent, containing a minimum of 1000 mouse LD50 units.
Medical Uses
Active immunisation against yellow fever. Only for use in centres or clinics registered to provide vaccination against yellow fever.
Dosage
Adults and children aged over 9 months: one dose of 0.5ml given by deep subcutaneous injection. Revaccinate after 10 years if risk still prevails.
Avoid Use
Pregnancy, acute infections or fevers, known egg allergy, HIV positive patients, those with lowered immunity.
Known Side Effects
Pain/inflammation at injection site, muscle pain and headache, slight fever and malaise. In rare cases, allergy, meningitis, encephalitis (brain inflammation).
