Supralip
What is it?
A lipid-lowering agent and fibrate, available as film-coated, oblong, white tablets containing 160mg of fenofibrate marked with logo and 160.
Medical Uses
High blood lipid levels (hyperlipidaemia of Types ha, jib, 111, 1V, V) which are uncontrolled by dietary measures alone, dyslipidaemia.
Dosage
Adults, 1 tablet each day taken with food.
Special Care
Pancreatitis; liver enzymes should be monitored at 3 monthly intervals during first 12 months of treatment.
Avoid Use
Children, pregnancy, breastfeeding, disease of gall bladder, liver or kidney disorders, known light allergy or light toxicity reactions when treated with ketoprofen and fibrates.
Possible Drug and Food Interactions
Cyclosporin, fibrates, anticoagulants, statins.
Known Side Effects
Raised liver enzymes, hepatitis, gastrointestinal upset, sensitivity to light, baldness, rash. In rare cases, lung disorders, muscle toxicity, sexual dysfunction.
