Sytron

What is it?

A haematinic preparation available as an elixir containing 380mg of sodium iron edetate (equivalent to 55mg of iron per 10ml).

Medical Uses

Deficiency in iron.

Dosage

Adults, 5ml 3 times each day at first, increasing gradually to 10ml 3 times each day. Children aged up to 12 months, 2.5ml twice each day; aged 1 to 5 years, 2.5ml, 3 times each day; aged 6 to 12 years, 5ml 3 times each day.

Possible Drug and Food Interactions

Tetracyclines.

Known Side Effects

Gastrointestinal upset.
