What is it?
An antihypertensive and angiotensin II antagonist available as film-coated tablets in 3 strenghts, all containing eprosartan as mesylate. Oval, white, contain 300mg; oval, pink, contain 400mg; capsule-shaped, white, contain 600mg.
Medical Uses
High blood pressure.
Dosage
Adults, 600mg once each day to start with taken with food, to a maximum of 800mg once daily. Elderly patients aged over 75 years, 300mg once each day with food. Special cure: impaired kidney function and mild to moderate liver disorders.
Avoid Use
Children, pregnancy, breastfeeding, severely impaired liver function.
Possible Drug and Food Interactions
Potassium supplements, potassium-sparing diuretics.
Known Side Effects
High blood triglyeeride levels, irritated, runny nose, dizziness, pains in joints, abdominal wind.
