Titralac
What is it?
A calcium supplement available as white tablets marked TC and 3M, containing 420mg of calcium carbonate and 180mg of glycine.
Medical Uses
As supplement or in kidney failure, for phosphate binding.
Dosage
Adults and children, for supplementation, 1 to 4 tablets each day to a daily maximum of 12.Phosphate binding, start with 6 tablets each day in divided doses then adjust according to need to a maximum of 40 tablets each day.
Special Care
Phosphate levels should be monitored. In patients receiving longterm treatment, blood levels of calcium, magnesium, potassium and albumin should be checked, along with urinary levels of calcium.
Avoid Use
High blood and urine levels ofcalcium, low blood phosphate levels.
Possible Drug and Food Interactions
Corticosteroids, cholecalciferol, teracyclines, thiazide diuretics.
