Tobradex
What is it?
A combined anti-inflammatory and anti-infective preparation containing a corticosteroid and aminoglycoside, available as eye drops containing 0.3% tobramycin and 0.15 dexamethasone.
Medical Uses
Prevention of infection and reduction in inflammation after cataract surgery.
Dosage
Adults, 1 drop into affected eye every 4 to 6 hours (occasionally, every 2 hours for first 24 to 48 hours after surgery), then decrease frequency as condition of eye improves. Do not use for more than 24 days.
Special Care
Pregnancy.
Avoid Use
Children, breastfeeding, glaucoma, infections of tubercular, fungal or viral origin and those producing pus, patients with soft contact lenses.
Known Side Effects
Irritation, thinning of cornea, raised pressure within eye. Any adverse side effects should be reported to the Committee on the Safety of Medicines (CSM).
