What is it?

An analgesic preparation and opiate, available as a powder in sachets in 2 strengths containing 50mg and 100mg of tramadol hydrochloride. h2>Medical Uses

 

Moderate to severe pain.

Dosage

Adults, 50 to 100mg every 4 to 6 hours; contents of sachet are added to half a glass of water.

Special Care

Elderly, previous fits, head injury, raised pressure within skull, depressed respiration, seriously impaired liver or kidneys, previous drug abuse or dependence.

Avoid Use

Children, pregnancy, breastfeeding.

Possible Drug and Food Interactions

Maois, TCADs, depressants of CNS, SSRIs, carhamwzepine, alcohol.

Known Side Effects

Allergic reactions, itching, nettle rash, effects on CNS, gastrointestinal upset, profuse sweating. In rare cases, anaphylaxis, fainting, blood changes, rash, flushes, fits depression of respiration, effects on heart circulation, severe depression and anguish.
