Travatan
What is it?
A prostaglandin analogue available as eye drops containing 40µg of travoprost per ml.
Medical Uses
Glaucoma and high pressure within the eye that has not responded to other treatments.
Dosage
Adults, 1 drop into affected eye(s) once each day at night.
Special Care
Pregnancy; women should use contraception. Eyes must be monitored closely during period of treatment, especially if dry eyes or corneal effects are present. Patients should be warned that eye colour may change.
Avoid Use
Children, breastfeeding, contact with skin.
Possible Drug and Food Interactions
Allow at least 5 minbutes before inserting other eye drops and 15 minutes before putting in contact lenses.
Known Side Effects
Dry eyes, irritation and pain in eyes, discolDuration of iris, sensitivity to light, headache, flare, feeling of particle in eye, keretitis (inflammation of cornea), mild hyperaemia (increased blood quantity in eye). Any adverse side effects should be reported to the Committee on the Safety of Medicines (CSM).
