Tylex

What is it?

A combined analgesic preparation available as red and white capsules marked C30, containing 500mg of paracetamol and 30mg of codeine phosphate. Also, TYLER EFFECRVESCENT, white, effervescent tablets for adding to water containing 500mg of paracetamol and 30mg of codeine phosphate.

Medical Uses

Severe pain.

Dosage

Adults, 1 or 2 capsules 4-hourly, to a maximum of 8 each day.

Special Care

Elderly, head injury, raised pressure within skull, obstructed and inflammatory bowel disorders, Addison's disease, underactive thyroid gland, seriously impaired liver or kidney function, chronic alcoholism.

Avoid Use

Pregnancy, breastfeeding, depression of respiration, diseases causing obstruction of airways.

Possible Drug and Food Interactions

Depressants of CNS, MAOIs.

Known Side Effects

Gastrointestinal upset, dry mouth, blurred vision, dizziness, sedation, tolerance, dependence.
