Typherix

What is it?

A preparation of inactivated surface antigen Vi, available as a liquid in pre-prepared syringes containing 25µg per 0.5ml of polysaccharide antigen of Salmonella typhi.

Medical Uses

Active immunisation against typhoid.

Dosage

Adults and children aged over 2 years, 0.5ml by intramuscular injection. Children aged under 2 years, assess risk as response is not complete.

Special Care

Pregnancy, breastfeeding.

Avoid Use

Acute infections and fevers.

Known Side Effects

Malaise, headache, fever, reactions at injection site.
