Vibramycin Acne Pack
What is it?
A tetracycline antibiotic available as white and green capsules containing microgranules, comprising 50mg of doxycycline as hyclate, marked VBM 50.
Medical Uses
Acne vulgaris.
Dosage
Adults, 1 tablet each day taken with plenty of water while standing up or sitting upright; avoid evening or bedtime and do not take before lying down.
Special Care
Impaired liver function.
Avoid Use
Children, pregnancy, breastfeeding.
Possible Drug and Food Interactions
Alcohol, barbiturates, oral contraceptives, phenytoin, anticoagulants, penicillin, carbamazepine, methoxyflurane, mineral supplements and antacids.
Known Side Effects
Gastrointestinal upset, ulceration and inflammation of oesophagus, allergic responses, sensitivity reactions to light, abnormal liver function, blood disorders, superinfections. In event of rise in intracranial blood pressure, drug must be withdrawn.
