Viridal Duo
What is it?
A prostaglandin preparation available as a powder with diluent in dual chamber cartridges, in 3 strengths containing 10, 20 and 40µg of alprostadil.
Medical Uses
Male erectile dysfunction.

Special Care
Heart and circulatory disease, phimosis (tight foreskin), fibrosis of the cavernosa (thickening of the erectile tissues of the penis), abnormal curvature of the penis. Patients should be advised to seek medical help if erection lasts for more than 4 hours).
Avoid Use
Peyronie's disease (a condition of unknown cause in which a fibrous plaque develops on the penis causing a painful curvature), leukaemia, multiple myeloma (bone cancer), sickle cell anaemia.
Possible Drug and Food Interactions
Heparin, β-blockers, warfarin, papaverine.
Known Side Effects
Blood pressure changes, dizziness, heart arrhythmias, vagal shock (affecting vagus nerves, a pair of cranial nerves essential for many functions), collapse, pains and abnormalities in penis, priapism (painful, persistent erection requiring medical treatment), deposits of haemosiderin (an iron-rich pigment) in penis, reddening, pain in testicles and perianal region.
