Xatral XL
What is it?
A selective Bi-blocker available as sustained-release, layered, yellow/white tablets containing 10mg of alfuzosin hydrochloride. Also, XATRAL, available as film-coated, white tablets containing 2.5mg of alfuzosin hydrochloride.
Medical Uses
Benign prostatic hypertrophy(enlargement of prostate gland).
Dosage
Men, Xatral XL, 1 tablet each day taken after a meal. Xatral, 1 tablet 3 times each day to a maximum of 4.
Special Care
Weak heart, high blood pressure, impaired liver or kidney function. Monitor blood pressure especially when starting treatment. Stop 24 hours before anaesthesia, or if angina worsens.
Avoid Use
Severely impaired liver function, (or any impairment of liver with Xatral XL), past orthostatic hypotension (low blood pressure on standing).
Possible Drug and Food Interactions
Antihypertensives, other 1-blockers.
Known Side Effects
Gastrointestinal upset, headache, sleepiness, malaise, dizziness, vertigo, rapid heartbeat, orthostatic hypotension, chest pain, fatigue, rash, flushing, fluid retention, palpitations, fainting.
