Xepin
What is it?
An antipruritic and antihistamine preparation available as a cream containing 5% doxepin hydrochloride.
Medical Uses
Itching and eczema.
Dosage
Adults, apply a thin layer to affected skin 3 to 4 times each day to a maximum of 3g per dose.
Special Care
Pregnancy, breastfeeding, serious liver disease, glaucoma, retention of urine, mania.
Avoid Use
Children.
Possible Drug and Food Interactions
Drugs metabolised by liver microsomal enzymes, cimetidine, MAOIs, depressants of CNS.
Known Side Effects
Dry mouth, local irritation of skin, drowsiness - patient should be warned that this may occur.
