Zapain
What is it?
A compound analgesic preparation available as red and white capsules and white caplets, all containing 500mg of paracetamol and 30mg of codeine phosphate.
Medical Uses
Severe pain.
Dosage
Adults, 1 to 2 every 4 hours to a maximum of 8 each day.
Special Care
Elderly, enlarged prostate gland, underactive thyroid, obstruction or inflammation of the bowel, Addison's disease.
Avoid Use
Children, pregnancy, breastfeeding, head injury, moderate to severe kidney or liver impairment, raised pressure within skull, obstruction of the airways, depression of respiration.
Possible Drug and Food Interactions
Depressants of the CNS, MAOIs.
Known Side Effects
Shortness of breath, gastrointestinal upset, dry mouth, dizziness, blurring of vision, dependence and tolerance.
