Zestoretic 20

What is it?

An antihypertensive preparation combining an ACE inhibitor and thiazide diuretic available as white tablets containing 20mg of lisinopril as dihydrate and 12.5mg of hydrochlorothiazide. Also, ZESTORETIC 10, available as peach coloured tablets containing 10mg of lisprinol as dihydrate and 12.5mg of hydrochlorothiazide.

Medical Uses

Mild to moderate high blood pressure in patients whose condition is controlled on the same doses given separately.

Dosage

Adults, 1 tablet each day with 2 as the daily maximum.

Special Care

Impaired liver or kidneys, gout, high levels of uric acid in urine, diabetes, anaesthesia and surgery, ischaemic heart or cerebrovascular disease, kidney dialysis, imbalance in fluid and electrolyte levels.

Avoid Use

Children, pregnancy, breastfeeding, absence of urination, angioneurotic oedema (widespread swelling due to fluid collection) in conjunction with previous treatment using ACE inhibitor.

Possible Drug and Food Interactions

Lithium, NSAIDs, hypoglycaemics, potassium supplements, potassium-sparing diuretics, tubocurarine.

Known Side Effects

Headache, fatigue, dizziness, gastrointestinal upset, low blood pressure, cough, impotence, nausea, angioneurotic oedema.
