Zofran
What is it?
A 5HT3-antagonist (blocks nausea and vomiting reflexes) available as film-coated, yellow, oval tablets in 2 strengths containing 4mg and 8mg of ondansetron hydrochloride, marked with GLAXO and strength. Also, ZOFRAN MELT, strawberry- flavoured, white substance to dissolve on tongue containing 4mg and 8mg of ondansetron hydrochloride. Also, ZOFRAN SYRUP, sugar-free, containing 4mg of ondansetron hydrochloride per 5ml. Also, ZOFRAN INJECTION a solution in ampoules containing 2mg of ondansetron per ml. Also, ZOFRAN SUPPOSITORIES, containing 16mg of ondansetron.
Medical Uses
Postoperative nausea and vomiting or that due to chemo- and radiotherapy.

Special Care
Pregnancy, obstruction of intestine, impaired liver function.
Avoid Use
Breastfeeding.
Known Side Effects
Flushes, headache, constipation, short-lived rise in liver enzymes. In rare cases, low blood pressure, slow heartbeat, extrapyramidal reactions (arising from extrapyramidal system), fits, disturbed vision, pains in chest, anaphylaxis, heart arrhythmias, hypersensitivity, dizziness (with infusion given rapidly).
