Compounding Pharmacy Practices

Compounding pharmacy practices prepare drugs in new forms; for example, a compounding pharmacist might make a medicated lollipop for a patient who has difficulty swallowing the tablets normally provided by the drug manufacturer. Compounding pharmacies may also dispense the same non-compounded drugs that patients can obtain from community pharmacies.
